I first met Nuçe about four years ago while feeding the stray dogs and cats in my neighborhood. She had a rough start—someone had cruelly tied a plastic strap around her neck, leaving a painful wound. Despite the pain and the harsh life on the streets, Nuçe never lost her gentle spirit or her deep, gaze that seems to look right into your heart. She wandered the streets for years, quietly, always kind, always hopeful. I shared her story everywhere I could, hoping someone would see the magic in her eyes—but no one ever came forward for her.                                                                                                                                                     
Still, Nuçe never gave up on people.                                                                                                                                           
Recently, her fate took a darker turn when she was picked up and placed in a municipal shelter where the future is often the end of life. I couldn't let that be her end. I brought her out, and thanks to the compassion of an elderly, ill woman, Nuçe has a temporary place to stay. But due to the limited conditions, she must stay tied up—and Nuçe deserves so much more.                                                                                                                                                 
Now, more than ever, this sweet-hearted girl needs a forever home.                                                                                                                                                   
Nuçe is not just a dog. She is a survivor, a quiet source of love, a gentle presence who will never stop believing in the goodness of people.
