I rescued Maya at a carwash in Tirana where she struggled around with a broken front leg and several infections. She was about 6 month old in Juli 2023.The only thing they gave her was a slice of pizza.

The day I went there she was laying under a fabricated roof with some dirty blankets. Not able to walk for a long time, in pain and exhausted. Her eyes showed that she had no more hope. Depressed.

I took her in my arms and carried her to the vet hospital. I asked the garage guys if they could bring us by car but they were telling me maybe later because we have to work...3 minute drive... for me a 40 min walk with stops. She could not walk.

At our arrival I started to take away the ticks from her skin. The xrays showed difficult fractures. At the operation they put an iron plate in her leg. The nerves had died and there was doubt if she would use her leg and paw again.

Several months I gave her antibiotics and cleansed all the wounds many times a day. It was very difficult to heal.

She started walking using her wrist as a clump. I gave her daily physiotherapy and massages of her leg and shoulder. To grow back the nerves.

I found a prothese for Maya. Her foot could stand in the right position and not dragging her leg over the floor her wounds could heal better.

But the Xrays showed that her bone was getting thinner. Prognose was Amputation needed within 6 months.

I started giving her calcium and other bone growth and anti inflammatory supplements.

I took away the prothese now and then as now she was standing on her tows instead on her wrist.

But every time she went out in the garden within 1 minute she got wounds on her tows and leg

Maya runs and plays and stands now on all 3. Her leg was amputated on November 21, 2023

She can play and walk much better now. She is very happy to finally be able to do so and no more suffering.

She is a real sweet, wicked rascal

She stands very good on her 3 paws and can run real good and hard. She  walks well. She can not go walk fast for many miles but loves to explore and go out on adventure.

Maya is a naughty sweet funny spontaneous cheerful happy puppy girl and has lots of talks😊
